presented by IDSA Atlanta
[To Go]

Welcome to IDSA Atlanta's first "Charrette de 24 Heures" Student Design competition, open exclusively to IDSA Student Chapter members at Auburn, Georgia Tech, and SCAD. Working as teams or individuals your challenge is to develop and communicate a response to the following brief within the next 24 hours.

The Brief:
Delivery, take out, left-overs.
Disposable food containers have become a mainstay of American culture. We invite you to identify issues with and propose solutions for problems related to the design and use of these disposable 'to go' food containers. Solutions may address specific foods or deal with more universal issues.

The Deliverable:
Content submitted for review must represent original work generated within the competition period by teams or individuals. To be eligible, entries must be submitted via email including file attachments before the stroke of Midnight (EDT) Sunday 12 April to:
24hr.challenge@idsa-atlanta.org

  • Team entries should be sent from a single email address
  • The Subject field of the email should consist of a brief descriptive project title. If multiple emails are sent, all Subject lines for the entry should be identical.
  • The Body of each email should include: the name the individual or team members involved in the creation of the submission materials, and the school that they attend.

Electronic media documenting the concept may be submitted as attachments to email submissions in the following formats:

  • Images: TIFF, JPEG
  • Layouts: Acrobat PDF
  • Video: via YouTube (provide complete URL with email submission)

In addition to selected materials, each entry should also submit one (1) 800 x 600 pixel JPEG to serve as a "preview" image highlighting the work.

The Judges:
The following individuals will be evaluating entries based on design execution, strength of concept, communication of the idea, and what they think serves up the tastiest solution:

The Spoils:
In addition to bragging rights, the grand-prize winner will receive two (2) VIP tickets to the Atlanta screening of Objectified on May 13th, and be featured in an upcoming issue of the IDSA's DesignPerspectives newsletter. All winners will be highlighted on the IDSA Atlanta website.

About the student merit awards program:
In an effort to encourage, reward and celebrate excellence in industrial design education, IDSA encourages student chapters to nominate its best and brightest for the Chapter Student Merit Award Competition. Each student chapter holds a competition, juried by professional designers, to select the one Student Merit winner who will represent their school at the District Conference.
